From November 19 to 21, 2025, Cartagena established itself as the epicenter of the energy debate in Colombia during the 8th Oil, Gas and Energy Summit, an event that brought together more than 2,500 national and international professionals, including government authorities, business leaders, and technical experts from the sector.
JDV Partners actively participated in this forum, strengthening its positioning as a strategic partner in specialized talent management for the Oil & Gas industry. Our presence focused on identifying opportunities in technical recruitment, Human Resources consulting, and talent trend analysis for expanding energy projects, particularly in the natural gas, production, and critical operations segments.
Key Takeaways from the Event
During the summit, more than 120 technical conferences were held, addressing strategic pillars such as production, midstream, sustainability, innovation, and energy transition. Discussions highlighted the need to reactivate the sector following the decline in exploratory activity in recent years, as well as the urgency of ensuring the country’s energy security amid the transition toward renewable energy sources.
In addition, the business exhibition featured more than 120 stands, demonstrating the dynamism of the oil and gas value chain and the interest of industry players in remaining active and competitive in the face of regulatory, technological, and market changes.
Energy Market Context (2025–2026)
Colombia faces a challenging scenario marked by a decline in drilling activity and the need to replenish reserves, while advancing strategic projects such as offshore gas development and the implementation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) import solutions to cover potential supply deficits. In this context, Ecopetrol projects investments between COP 22 and 27 trillion for 2026, with a focus on upstream, gas, and energy transition initiatives, reinforcing the importance of having highly qualified talent to execute these plans.
Implications for Talent
Despite the slowdown in drilling activity, demand for specialized talent remains a critical factor for the industry. Clear needs are evident for technical profiles in production operations, artificial lift, and enhanced oil recovery, as well as for leadership roles such as pumping services managers and top drive managers. Likewise, strategic support areas—especially IT and finance—are consolidating as key functions for the sustainability and efficiency of energy projects.
JDV Partners responds to these needs with a global vision, supporting specialized recruitment processes not only across Latin America but also in the Middle East, through our office in Abu Dhabi and our alliance with TechBridge, thereby expanding our capacity to support high-complexity energy projects across different markets.
