JDV Partners participated in the Colombian Gold Symposium 2025, held in Medellín between November 4th and November 5th. Juan David Viñas, Managing Director of JDV Partners, attended this event which brought together leaders of the gold mining industry to discuss key trends, projects, and perspectives in the sector. JDV Partners’ presence at the symposium reinforces its brand positioning as a strategic ally in human talent management for the mining industry, maintaining a professional yet approachable tone with the mining community.
The event featured important technical insights from companies and industry authorities:
- B2Gold: Shared updates on the Gramalote project (Antioquia), projected to produce around 177,000 ounces of gold per year (~2.3 Moz over a 13-year mine life). The feasibility study indicates robust economics, with an investment of approximately USD 740 million for an NPV over USD 949 million and an IRR near 22%. The project already has environmental permits in place and enjoys strong support from local communities and authorities.
- Collective Mining: Highlighted the high-grade potential of the Apollo system in Caldas. The company has ~USD 140 million earmarked to drill over 100,000 meters in 2026, aiming to obtain the license by 2027 and begin construction by 2028 — underscoring the significant scale of the discovery and confidence in the project.
- Mineros S.A.: With over 50 years in the market, Mineros outlined its operations in Colombia, Nicaragua, and Chile. In Nicaragua, its Hemco mine produces approximately 130,000 ounces of gold per year, and the company is advancing the Porvenir polymetallic project; in Chile, the La Pepa project is in exploration with drilling permits expected in 2026; and in Colombia, Mineros continues to produce about 90,000 ounces of high-purity alluvial gold annually at El Bagre (Bajo Cauca).
- National Mining Agency (ANM): Offered an institutional perspective on the role of mining in Colombia’s reindustrialization. The ANM noted that only 15% of the country’s territory has been explored and promoted the concept of “Mining with Purpose”, focused on turning the wealth of the subsoil into community well-being and long-term regional development. The agency emphasized the need for collaboration among government, companies, and communities to jointly shape the future of Colombia’s strategic minerals through constructive dialogue.
The Colombian Gold Symposium 2025 underscored the importance of such events in connecting the local and international mining ecosystem. These forums enable the exchange of knowledge, networking, and the forging of partnerships that drive innovation and sustainable growth in the sector. JDV Partners reaffirms its commitment to developing human talent in the mining industry, recognizing that the success of mining projects goes hand in hand with the growth of people. Juan David Viñas’s attendance at the symposium reflects the firm’s dedication to supporting mining companies in identifying, recruiting, and training highly specialized professionals, thus contributing to the strengthening of the mining sector in Colombia and abroad.
